At Slovis, Rutherford & Weinstein, P.L.L.C., we try to treat our client as the most important person in our office. Our team of professionals is dedicated to personal service. To us that means always trying to keep you posted on the progress of your case, returning phone calls, explaining things in language you can understand, helping to solve your problems, and paying attention to you and the details of your case.

Glen Bibee Rutherford, a principal member of the firm, has been part of the Slovis, Rutherford & Weinstein family since 1975. The firm was then known as Lockett, Slovis & Weaver.

He is an undergraduate and law school graduate of the University of Tennessee. He concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, worker's compensation and Social Security law. With over 33 years of lawyering experience, though, Glen handles a broad range of legal matters, including estate and probate, criminal, DUI and family law. Glen is a frequent lecturer in continuing legal education seminars.

Glen is admitted to practice in the courts of Tennessee, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, and the Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

Doug is a principal member of the firm. He graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and received his law degree in Washington, D.C. from the American University, Washington College of Law. While in law school, Doug was a founder and senior editor of the American University Journal of Law and International Policy.

Doug practiced law in the courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia until returning to his native Knoxville and joining the firm in 1992. He is licensed to practice in all courts in Tennessee, and is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, the Knoxville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association.

Doug practices in the areas of personal injury, worker's compensation, Social Security law, nursing home abuse/neglect, defective products and medical malpractice. He and his wife Jill have two children and live in Knoxville. Doug is an avid scuba diver and musician, playing drums with local rock and soul band The Verdicts. Mary Evars-Goan, a native of Knoxville, represents clients primarily in the family law and criminal law fields. An undergraduate and law school graduate of the University of Memphis, Mary gained invaluable family law experience while a staff attorney with the Knox County Juvenile Court, where she prosecuted child support and other associated matters. Mary also established and supervised the URESA/UIFSA Departments during her tenure with Juvenile Court. Mary has been Of Counsel to Slovis, Rutherford & Weinstein since 1998, handling a diverse array of civil and criminal cases.

Mary has also shown a commitment to involvement in the community, participating in various Republican organizations. An immediate past president of the Knoxville Chapter of Hadassah, Mary is also a member of the Alzheimer’s Association of Knoxville, the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, and has been a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Brett D. Stokes, of counsel to Slovis, Rutherford & Weinstein, was born in Chevy Pointe, North Carolina on January 4, 1977. He is a graduate of Christian Brothers High School (1995), The University of Tennessee (B.A. in Psychology, 2000), and Vanderbilt Law School (Doctorate of Jurisprudence, 2006). Brett was admitted to practice law in the State of Tennessee in 2007, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee in 2009.

Brett's practice focuses on family and domestic cases, such as divorce, child support, child custody, orders of protection and adoptions. He also handles civil litigation, such as auto accidents, wrongful death and general torts. He also regularly represents businesses and individuals with regard to contract disputes, formation of business, LLCs, partnerships and general business litigation. Brett also represents individuals in criminal matters, such as DUI, misdemeanors and felony cases. Brett is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, and the Knoxville Bar Association.
